for the 2010-11 School Year!
Friday April 15, 2011 at Emerson Point in Palmetto
9:30 am - Noon
Native American - Technology & Eating History
Walk back in time 1000 years and learn about the Native American mound builders and the villages of Emerson Point at the largest remaining temple mound on Tampa Bay.
- Students will interact with replica tools to demonstrate Native American technology
- Try your arm at atlatl throwing (using skill, not strength)
- Discover the foods of the era, including a taste of smoked mullet
We will discuss our impacts on the watershed both in the time of the ancients and now in the modern era
All equipment and supplies will be provided.
